Description
One 19" x 13" antique wood Ouija Board.  The back is impressed PATENTED FEB'Y 10TH 1891.  I believe that this is the first "talking board" by Charles Kennard.  I do not have a planchette.  This board came from a Connecticut estate.  It is in very nice condition for its age.  One of the vertical wood slat "braces" is missing from the back.  The other is attached, but there are narrow cracks - one each from the ends to the end nails, and one crack on the top from the end down a few inches (this is to the right of the top nail).  The board itself has no cracks, is solid and holds together tightly.  It is slightly warped; higher towards the center than at the top/bottom.  The finish (varnish?) on the front is in very nice shape with only some scratching and age marks.  I didn't clean this for fear of damaging the finish, so some of the marks (like the spots under the "yes") might clean off.  The stenciling has no fading--the whitish areas on the symbols in the upper corners of the board in some of my pictures are from reflections.  There are a couple of dings on the W and X (see closeup picture).  Edges of the board are in very good shape with minor finish wear.  The bottom rim has a few bumps/dings on the back edge, like this was stood up/leaned against something for display.  I think I have covered everything regarding this item, but if you have any questions, please email me before bidding, as this is being sold as is. PLEASE READ ALL MY TERMS & CONDITIONS:   PayPal Only.   Buyer to pay shipping.  Insurance is usually optional, also to be paid by the buyer.   If you have any questions regarding the item, please email me before bidding/buying.  I will respond as soon as possible.   I am happy to combine shipping on multiple items, where possible.  To receive combined shipping rates, please wait for me to email you an invoice after purchase.       Connecticut residents add 6% sales tax.  Please note that Connecticut is one of the few states which requires sellers to collect the sales tax not only on the item purchase price, but the total price paid.  So I duly collect it and pass it along to the state.   US and Canadian Sales Only.  Shipments to Canada do not have insurance or delivery confirmation.  Buyer responsible for customs fees, etc, if applicable.  I do not declare items as gifts on customs forms.   Payment to be received within 5 days of end of auction/purchase; buyer to be in contact with seller within three days.   When insured, items are insured for the purchase price.  Seller not responsible for uninsured items lost/damaged by the shipping carrier.   Handling Time:    I try to ship items quickly for the convenience of buyers.  I ship three to four times a week, so handling time usually ranges from a few hours to two business days.   Return Policy:  All items are sold as is.  I describe items to the best of my knowledge.  I do have a limited return policy.  If I made a glaring error in my description (a chip or crack I missed, for example), please contact me before leaving feedback.  I am willing to work with you to resolve the situation and will accept returns in such cases.    I take pride in my reputation; I want happy buyers.   I do not, however, accept returns for the following reasons, among others:  buyer’s remorse, the buyer didn’t read the description stating the condition of the item, the buyer later purchased/won the same item at a lower price from another seller, the buyer doesn’t understand that hand made items such as art pottery or glass will have natural flaws/glaze pinpops/bubbles/non uniform design, etc., which are expected and not a reason for return.  I would like to have an open return policy, but because of a few unreasonable buyers, I am not able to do so.  Again, if you receive an item and have a legitimate reason for return, please email me asap.
